I have a theory about screens, that since they don’t produce the full spectrum of light that the sun does, spending too much time staring at a screen increases the chance of vitamin deficiencies and might cause some of the mental disorders that aren’t fully understood (so like, most of them in my opinion) or others that haven’t been defined.

I’ve read that it is recommended to walk outdoors, preferably away from motor vehicle traffic, for about 3 hours a week for the body to create an appropriate amount of vitamin D. I can’t quote a source on that, I simply recall reading it and I believe it is true. It might not be true. On that note, this obviously isn’t a cure and I am not a doctor or a professional of any kind. I simply think it might help and I truly hope it does.

if esc or alt+f4 don’t do what you want, try going to window management in settings and making a window rule. you can click the detect window properties button then click the offending window and set the window type to match. then you can try using rules like forcing the titlebar on just that window or ignoring global shortcuts or one called ‘closable’. i’ve never used any of these but it’s a thought.

I have a few ways to generate info, like with inxi or searching pcpartpicker, but there often there is not enough info, important info that is missing, far too much info about stuff I don’t care about or I have to spend a lot of time searching for specific data and have to copy and paste each feature for each part individually which can be too time consuming.

Same as certain other words, while offensive to some, to the point of it needing redacted, others whom the word is used offensively towards, may some day choose to take it on as a title proudly. The meaning of words can shift and changes over time. I recall a time when the word “queer” was bad. I wonder if that will be redacted here too. People got in trouble for saying it when I was younger, regardless of their intent. It had the same weight of offensiveness as fuck, shit, piss and damn. It shifted again though and now is part of the LGBTQ+ abbreviation and to my knowledge, is not considered offensive anymore, unless used specifically as such.

The part that concerns me however, is the automatic redaction. That sort of automation is potentially a weapon that can be abused. It is blacklisting speech without regard to intent. No, I don’t want people spammming racial epithets or derogatory language constantly, something I’ve had the displeasure of handling in the past, elsewhere, as a moderator in a group videochatting website and in subreddits i modded (including the infamous spacedicks).

I believe that any kind of censorship like that should be handled on a case by case basis. Automatically doing it will alienate people, some who are unaware of the indecency of the word and some using it as it was initially intended, all to stop the bad actors hoping to gain a reaction. Automatic removal is caving and letting the bad actors win. It is letting them dictate which words can be used and which are to be removed. What happens when the word “holocaust” becomes a slur? What happens when it is decided that the word “removed” becomes offensive?

I’m not asking for any changes, I just felt the need to make my case and point, as I have done numerous times on many platforms. I want to issue this warning, that censorship and especially automatic censorship, is very rarely the right way to do things. I understand why. I keep folders of bookmarks and then right click > open all in tabs depending on what i’m doing.

i like to start with by opening a bunch of tabs depending on my task, then close them as i progress. if i need to stop with many tabs still open, like with topics being researched for projects, i’ll save all tabs to a temp folder to resume later. about once a month i clean the temp folder and sort things i want to save in various categorical folders.

I believe every particle/atom/point within my reality has a connection equivalent to what one might call a ‘soul’ and it exists outside of dimensional reality, the dimensions being represented by a line (1d), a plane (2d), a field (3d) and the function of time (4d). Currently for me this puts these connections in the 5th dimension. I use the term “philote” as a label for each connection. That term is borrowed from the Ender books.

Life as we know it is made up of many atoms, formed into molecules, cells, organs and so on. At the core, each atom having its own connected philote, an organism is a community of philotes working together to stay connected and keep the organism going. The organism they represent is in a way, their religion. I believe in the philotes representing my human body. They believe in me.

When I die, my atoms with scatter. Some philotes will be swept away in the atmosphere, some will become the rotting and disintegrating organs of my body. Unless I’m cremated or destroyed in some other way similar, some parts of my body will remain connected. The philotes that make up my bones will remain connected to each other, as the philotes of my skin and blood etc. spread and become new things.

If I meet someone and have an affinity to them, I believe that some of my philotes and some of their philotes were once part of the same organism. They belonged to the same philotic ‘church’ of that organism. They recognize each other. They like each other. Thus I like the other person and they like me, even if we can’t explain why ourselves. It is like magnetism, our philotes know each other and know they have similar goals and will work together. Since philotes exist outside of time, this affinity may be caused by something which has not occurred yet. Perhaps the other person and I die and many of our philotes become a new entity sometime in the future. A new church or religion of philotes.

If I meet someone and do not like them and cannot explain why, I believe that my philotes and their philotes are of opposing goals. Their philotic church does not agree with my philotic church. The philotes are repelled from each other, like how a magnet will repel. We go our separate ways. Perhaps their philotes were once part of an organism and my philotes were once part of the blade which killed their organism. Perhaps one day some of my philotes are part of an organism that is consumed by their organism. Some philotic clusters do not like an event. They accept it but will repel future or past encounters with philotes of the opposing mass. They do not believe in them. Their church is not the same. They do not like the outcome. There could be many reasons. Your beliefs still exist within my beliefs, even if yours do not include mine.

This is happening an infinite number of times right now. Dark matter and dark energy are not measurable because they do not exist anymore at that point in time. From the perspective of a flipped philote, our existance is the dark matter. The flipping happens in all directions in 4 dimensions. It can be backwards on a line, diagonally on a plane, it can loop in a field and go sideways in time.

having outside eyes on me is an interesting thought. i have a caring support network that i talk to regularly, family members and a psychologist, to help keep me rooted on earth most of the time, if that’s what you meant by the question. the question could also be interpreted as being monitored or surveilled, like by police or the like, which insofar as i know, no more than the average citizen, no less.

i have a theory using a metaphor based on Newton’s laws. they believe they are the unbalanced force in the first law, creating a change, disrupting the object in motion which is humanity and its future. they want to be, or believe they are, the result of the first law as shown by the application of the second law: the combination of mass and acceleration. they are the mass. they believe they are accelerating things. while the third law, every action has an opposite but equal reaction, is their methodology. by strengthening their hold over a large amount of educated people through debt and eliminating the department of education, it will suppress scientific progress and contain it, hoping to force a powerful reaction as the pressure builds and eventually boils out or explodes, resulting in some major scientific breakthrough that will save the day which they will take credit for. except it wont happen and instead there will be decades of unnecessary suffering as their plans fail miserably and all the bad things in the world continue to grow unchecked.

The term for combining their computational power is “concurrent computing”, “parallel computing” or “distributed computing” which aren’t really all exactly the same but i can’t find distinctions betwen them that are well defined. making them all accesible in one place is something i want to do as well but i get distracted easily and haven’t made much progress.

KVM is an abbreviation that means ‘keyboard video mouse’ which also might be something to look into but it can be confusing as it also is an abbreviation for ‘kernel virtual machine’ which also might be related but that’s as far as i got mostly.

i believe you can create a local network if you have a router/hub/switch device with multiple ethernet ports. if all the devices have wifi you should be able to connect through that, using something like jellyfin or maybe proxmox. wish i knew more and could help, hopefully you get better advice because i want to do the same or something similar.

There is probably a better way but you could make a bunch of copies of the image, shift the hue in GIMP (or whatever image editor you prefer) until you end up with an amount of images equal to the total number of changes you want throughout the day, put them all in a directory, go to set that directory as your wallpaper image, make it a slideshow and set the timer to change however often you want the shift to happen.

If you were trying to make a specific color match a specific time of day, it would not work, unless you set the wallpaper after each reboot to the appropriate color. It also would be a bit tedious if you wanted a large number of hue changes throughout the day.

I’ve never heard this term before. My searches online aren’t bringing up anything useful, it’s all stuff about literal pets. I can’t seem to wrap my mind around what it could mean or the right thing to search to find the answer. Could someone explain please?

The ADHD aspect of computer related stuff is something I wish more people understood, Linux and beyond. I have about 45 seconds before I get distracted, that’s if I’m lucky and my phone doesn’t go off or a neighbors dog starts barking or I hear strong wind and decide to check the weather or I suddenly remember I need to mop the floor of my bathroom and a near infinite set of other possibilities.
