  • The easy part of this was that the foundation is just a big square. I picked an arbitrary size: ten 6x6 foundation blueprints on each side. The rest I just copied from inspiration images I found online. I pretty much copied an ancient building called the Ziggurat of Ur.

I think the important thing was that I built the thing first, then started figuring out what to put in it. If I did it the other way around, I figured I’d get stuck in analysis paralysis. I did know I generally wanted to build tier 9 parts in it, so I did make sure one floor was tall enough for particle accelerators, but that’s all i planned in advance.

  • I’m going to start planning my days and journaling about my work day, all on paper. I’ve discovered I really like writing when I have nice paper and a nice pen and a vision of a good journal filled cover to cover with notes. I’ve already started a reading resolution as well, taking book notes in another journal. I’m also playing around with an analog zettelkasten to support more blogging, but I’m still feeling that out.

What I’ve learned via two failed attempts at bullet journaling is that I need my notebooks to have specific purposes. Bujo being multi-purpose doesn’t help me focus on what’s going into the journal. But when I have one notebook for book notes, another for my work journal, and another just for planning my day, I have a much easier time giving each one my full focus.

  • This basically the setup for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. It’s an anime where a guy has his soul drained by an awful company and when there’s a zombie apocalypse, his first reaction is to break into the corner shop and get some beer and have a day off. It’s a fantastic series about living life to the fullest, and the art is so great: it’s incredibly colorful, as opposed to most super-desaturated apocalypse media.
