I can only speak for Unraid, but I would imagine admin time is basically nil for any dedicated NAS distro if all you want is to store files. <10 minutes from scratch to install and boot, create an array and enable a share.
2·5 days agoThe nice thing about their new licensing model is the cost of lower tiers goes toward license upgrades, i.e. you can start with the cheapest license and if you ever need to upgrade you’re only paying the difference rather than buying a whole new license (assuming they don’t change it again before then.) Reduces the upfront cost a bit.
I run it on an NVIDIA Shield. Can’t speak to any others with certainty, but from a quick search, there are guides for installing on Fire Stick and ONN devices too.
I suspect it’ll run on just about any Android or Google TV device as long as the default launcher setting isn’t locked down, and even then you can probably enable it with a couple quick ADB commands.
Not true, unless by “build yourself” you mean install Projectivy Launcher on any Android box that supports it.

41·1 month agoI think the disconnect here is a lot of people buy the “lifetime” Plex Pass, which is a one-time cost and not a subscription. Saying “X feature will be locked behind a subscription” implies some new pricing model and leaves users who paid a one-time cost years ago wondering if it’s time to look for an alternative or if they’re completely unaffected.
“a subscription” is ambiguous as to whether it’s being locked behind the existing Plex Pass or some new/additional subscription model. The title could have more accurately stated that remote streaming is becoming a Plex Pass feature. As is, Plex Pass users (many of whom bought the lifetime pass years ago,) can’t tell from the title whether this is a new subscription cost or if they’re completely unaffected.
“Clickbait” might be a little harsh, but I get where they’re coming from.
3·1 month agoDoes Vivaldi not just use the Chrome store for extensions? Also, aren’t they losing manifest V2 as soon as it’s dropped from Chromium in a few more months?
Kinesis Gaming. Good ergonomics, but it’s pretty stupid how much they want for risers and like 6 Mac layout key caps on top of an already expensive keyboard. I don’t use the RGB or macro features.

First season was decent, but after a certain point the cognitive load required to keep track of the timeline(s) and character relationships just made it feel exhausting and not fun to watch.
