SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English2·2 days agoSorry to hear your step back into the vape journey isnt starting off hot. Everyone is different some people are into vapes some prefer to stick with combustion that’s why I try to recommend cheaper vapes when people ask so they aren’t out hundreds of $ if its not for them.
For me vaping its a creeping high. The more you sesh back to back the more you feel it in the eyes and the relaxation. Instead of one or two bowls sesh it out over an hour and like six bowls to see how it creeps. Setting also matters a lot. I find that walking or basking in sunlight and bird watching in early morning really adds to the meditative relaxing affects compared to sitting in a room.
Theres a general consensus that a low temp vape sesh hits different than high temp One Hit Extraction sessions. Turn your vaporizer up to its highest setting or around 420-430f and see if that hits and different than seshing around 380f. Does your abv look light brown or pitch black? Thats how you know.
I’m hesitant to recommend another vape since your first few havent worked out. If you still interested, maybe try a dynavap next. With a torch or IH you can ride the line between ABV and ash to get the most combustion-like vapor possible without actually smoking. If a back to back OHE sesh with a dynavap tip turning your bud pitch black in one breath is still not doing much for you, I dont think much will. At least you can use it like a fancy combustion dugout. The dynavaps are a big improvement over fake cigarette dugout pipes even if you just want to smoke out of them.
Keep in mind the high you get from smoking is different because of the carcinogens and carbon dioxide inhalation. You can get similar affects holding in your breath and depriving yourself of oxygen. Dry herb vapor evaporates the terps and all the cannabanoid/hash oil in the plant while leaving all the plant matter carbon behind. Do you get similar heady highs from dabbing concentrate too? Its basically the same difference on a micro level.
SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English2·2 days agoIndustrial hemp farms sells cbd/cbg/cbn isolate powder which is essentially diamonds in crushed up powder form as well as cbd shatter dabs. The wand can do dabs fine but the problem is stock cups and carb it comes with sucks. You need a dynavap or similar herb chamber and vape wool/Japanese cotton to get it working reliably.
SmokeyDopeOPto Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Finally made a good offgrid lighting system.English2·2 days agoIts 12v dc from batteries straight to the bulbs. They are meant for 12v-24v dc in. Ive never been in boat or rv so I don’t know what kind of lighting they use. The 12v e26 led bulbs say they are for RVs and boats so IDK what the difference is. I did what I wanted to do with the voltage and connectors I was familiar with. My other homes had e26 bulbs so why not this one just for 12v? This way I can use the fixture with Car battery or jumper pack battery with a cig plug connection.
SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English2·2 days agoIt all depends on if you can control the temp. All powerful desktops and ball vapes can all combust if you set temps too high, the eq can go up to 500f easy. sometimes high temps are good for concentrate. For flower its up to user to dial in and stay within reasonable limits (395-420f) if you push that its on you.
If you wnt a terp chaser that never combust even on highest temp the arizer portables is where its at.
SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English3·2 days agoSure im happy to help you out.
Arizer vtower is a good budget desktop vape similar in form to volcano though obviously not comparable beyond basic shape and some functions. You can get it on sale around 90$USD. Go a little more for arizer EQs to get blower motor for balloons, kind of gimmicky in my experience.
Dynavap is a non-electronic dry herb vape with good entry level options. Their cheapest model is 40$. You can heat it with lighter, torch, or induction heater. The all metal ones will probably last you a lifetime.
Vaphit is Chinese knockoff dynavap you can get from vape sellers like vgoodiez. They make cheap all glass stuff heated with torch and a knockoff metal m for like 20-30$.

SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English2·2 days agoI throw a bunch of vape balls on the core and turn it up to max
SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English1·2 days agoI leave my eq on constantly never turn it off. Did you ever mess with the timer settings to turn it off and keep the eq on all the time? I agree heatup time is a bitch but If you never turn it off it doesnt really matter once its heated.
SmokeyDopeto Trees•The Future is Now: what were your thoughts on transitioning to a vape?English4·2 days agoI smoked for over a decade. As a teenager I tried pax and arizer eq but I didn’t really understand it. As an adult my first vaporizer was the arizer air max. I got it to substitute a travel dugout. Hated smoking through those fake cigarettes constant butante and pull through scooby snack inhalation.
The air max is a great terp chasing device with nice features but its not powerful and the glass stem filters with four little holes sucks. I just got a steel screen mesh stem from eds this week for 420 been wanting one for over a year.
I really liked the air max and quit smoking soo after, but it always left me feeling like there could be more. Thats when I remembered someone left their old crap in my house when they moved. Two desktop arizer EQs were just waiting to be used.
The desktop EQs were a step up. But I was never really happy with elbow packing, or the huge cyclone/connesuir bowls, or the bags. I just wasnt satisfied with stock EQ experience. Had to buy aftermarket parts from ddave and some vapes balls and some good glass to complete the arizer desktop experience.
I also got into the dynavap stuff. I needed something more powerful than the air max that could OHE. The m+ and induction heater was such a good intro to the dynaverse and since then I got some other Dyna stems to try out.
SmokeyDopeMto LocalLLaMA@sh.itjust.works•Should be able to load the full version of DeepSeek R1 on this no prob 😎😎English2·3 days agoYou are correct in your understanding. However the last part of your comment needs a big asterisk. Its important to consider quantization.
The full f16 deepseek r1 gguf from unsloth requires 1.34tb of ram. Good luck getting the ram sticks and channels for that.
The q4_km mid range quant is 404gb which would theoretically fit inside 512gb of ram with leftover room for context.
512gb of ram is still a lot, theoretical you could run a lower quant of r1 with 256gb of ram. Not super desirable but totally doable.
I have been using deephermes daily. I think CoT reasoning is so awesome and such a game changer! It really helps the model give better answers especially for hard logical problems. But I don’t want it all the time especially on an already slow model. Being able to turn it on and off wirhout switching models is awesome. Mistral 24b deephermes is relatively uncensored, powerful and not painfully slow on my hardware. a high quant of llama 3.1 8b deephermes is able to fit entirely on my 8gb vram.
The glass pods that the arizer air comes with has four little holes as a filter which really restricts airflow bad. All glass aftermarket stems for solo has same four holes.
This stem has a steel chamber with steel mesh pipe screen which really improves the airflow like on a whole different level. The steel chamber itself absorbs heat which adds some different conduction properties.
I never had a wood stem before always heard that it adds some taste to the herb so honestly I wanted to see what wood pieces were all about and see how it changes the flavor of herb vapor.
The dynavap mouthpiece was a lucky coincidence that it even fit on without additional work. In practice it acts as a protective buffer for mouth saliva moisture from touching wood. The condenser it comes with adjust airflow properties while catching gunk.
Its working awesome so far really able to milk up glass pieces now. The air max is a terp chasing device by nature so can’t expect a OHE, but once its heated upba while with a layer of vape balls its a definite upgrade.
EdsTnT wood cocobolo stem for arizer solo, and on top is a dynavap rosium m7xl mouthpiece with adjustable condenser inside.

SmokeyDopeOPMto Vaporents•This is my first ever wood vaporizer piece. Its an arizer stem with mesh screen from Eds.English2·5 days agoThanks, and yes, this is cocobolo its half light half dark my pictures only showed light side oops. Other options are grandillo and blackwood from Ed.
I was a little disappointed at first it wasnt full dark but honestly I like the variation. I got the piece I was meant to have thats my take when coloration isnt how I expect.
To me it’s more like the numbers mean something different. While they still mean mostly nothing, the numbers that display on your profile tell what kind of user you are and how much seniority you have here. Been here close to two years? Maybe you came from the API fiasco. Got 1000+ comments and 50+ post? Somewhat active user you probably seen once or twice before. 0 post and below 50 comments but seemingly active? Potential lurker. Still mostly meaningless because it could be alt and who really cares but NGL when I look at the stats of the really active users I’m like damn they really contributed to the Lemmy content mill.
You are free to pick an instance that aligns with your values and preferences for moderation. Its a double edged sword because it enables echo chambers which I think isnt great but it seems many people like those actually.
The sub’s, filters, and block list serves as a manual replacement for the algorithm. Its hard building it up but once you do Lemmy becomes mostly enjoyable as long as you keep to what you like.
