    Bard attempts seduction.

It fails, npc: “Sorry, I don’t swing that way.”

Bard: “Be right back, need a nap.”

In addition, you can play Pathfinder 2 which has queer, non-binary, asexual, and trans characters as part of the core rules.

Plus it’s a straight-up better game than DnD

You can play whatever you want, but in the comments of a post specifically about one of the very few places that DnD pays lip service the LGBTQ community, it seems appropriate to talk about the primary competitor that absolutely crushes representation and social justice issues.

        But you do you.

Hey, I’m not the one downvoting posts because I don’t like their tone.

Plus, I don’t judge people based on their choice of game (as you seem to); I am simply pointing out that there are other options. Sure, I used “better” as a shorthand for “more complex, more balanced, more inclusive, better written (especially from the GM’s PoV), and more universal,” so I could have done a better job of explaining what I meant. If you think that’s being condescending, I’m happy to give you specific examples of why I think that and you can judge for yourself, or go read/watch any of the many, many side-by-side comparisons.

I play DnD with my good friends because that’s what they want to play, and I don’t judge them or their character choices. I mentioned Pathfinder as an option before session zero, and we agreed to go with DnD due to people’s familiarity. However, in a community dedicated to DnD and TTRPG’s in general, it doesn’t seem out of place to me to talk about other options. And the other people upvoting my original post seen too think it’s a valid contribution as well.

Like I said, you should play whatever game you want. If you don’t like Pathfinder players, then you can just, you know, not play Pathfinder. Feel free to downvote and move on.

“yeah I had a bad experience when someone was recommending this ruleset, so I’ll stick with the game they said was less tolerant just to prove a point”

Hasbro isn’t worth your loyalty, you know

Pathfinder players are the Linux users of the TTRPG world. Open source, heavy parallels to closed-source, better content than closed source in many ways, will absolutely pretend any shortcomings don’t exist, and fans that insist “bro it’s finally ready, just make the switch, it’s super easy you’ll see.”

Then when you try to switch, it’s juuuuust different enough that you constantly have to consult the manual, but everything is named something different than the closed-source version so even the index isn’t super helpful at looking things up.

And if you ever stumble, the fans will pile on you with “bro RTFM” like it’s not forty three books long and counting.

On the opposite side of the coin, D&D is the Microsoft of the TTRPG world. The system peaked several versions ago, the maker keeps getting more and more invasive, and they keep trying to lock everything into their walled garden so switching means you need to totally scrap all of your content.

When we played AD&D II back then, one of our DMs had special rules for every cleric depending on his/her deity. Clerics of Corellion could change gender at will. Which lead to a funny situation: The cleric had a really clever idea, and someone asked him how. The cleric changed to female, said “female intuition”, and changed back…
